Message from President/CEO

Dear donors and friends of Plymouth Place,

Having been at Plymouth Place since 2018, I have witnessed firsthand how incredibly special this community is. We are a community with deep roots and the vision and fortitude to achieve great things no matter what challenges come our way. Our founders opened our doors in 1944, and they certainly must not have had an easy time of it based upon what was going on at that time. However, they felt called to a mission of serving seniors with compassion, excellence, and grace, and they allowed that mission to drive them forward and lay the foundation for the community we are today.

Celebrating our 75th anniversary in 2019 was one of the great joys of my career in senior living. What an honor to work closely with our 75th Anniversary Volunteer Committee, dedicated staff who executed the year's events flawlessly, and community partners and donors whose belief in the mission of Plymouth Place allowed us to fund our signature event with their gifts. As a community, we celebrated all those who sacrificed so much to found Plymouth Place, those who have lived and served here over the years, and those whose dedication and gifts ensured our future wellbeing.

By your inspired support, through the Naomi Borwell Giving Societies, we have been able to make lasting impact on the lives of our residents and staff and build for our future as a community. Capital improvements in several areas of our community – particularly the lower level and Bistro – keep our building modern and beautiful for our residents and staff to enjoy. We invested in the education of our outstanding associates through the scholarship program and leadership academy, and we've remained true to our mission of supporting residents who have outlived their means through our benevolent care.

In 2020, we had challenges we never expected but were able to meet head on thanks to our community's strong roots and the continued support of our faithful donors. Through our special appeal, we were able to invest in new technology systems to protect our residents and staff by eliminating pathogens from our community, screening for temperatures, and "scrubbing" the air circulating through our building; we secured the necessary personal protective equipment to keep all members of our community safe; and we have been able to support our staff and their families with groceries and sundries through our Plymouth Place Pantry.

Your partnership has allowed us to have premier systems in place to ensure the health and well-being of our community. What is truly incredible is that we have not stopped there. We were able to install a 6-hole putting green. We have invested in Positive Approach® to Care training to equip our staff with how to best support residents with brain change. We have made improvements in the kitchen to further customize the dining experience. These improvements are evidence that within the midst of challenges, Plymouth Place continues to thrive – and that is thanks to you, our generous donors and friends. You make the difference, and we are forever grateful.
